Often, I get questions through messages about various conditions and pathologies: what is the solution, how long until recovery?
I don’t like giving simplistic answers and I try to avoid them.
We want short answers, black or white, remedies handed on a platter, spontaneous healing... but such things are impossible.
You cannot know what is happening in a body without truly "immersing" yourself in as many dimensions of it as possible.
Let me tell you about a case that highlights these words in neon!
I worked with someone who had been diagnosed with essential hypertension a few months earlier.
Beyond the antihypertensive and lipid-lowering treatment (for high cholesterol) prescribed by the cardiologist, my client decided to seriously look at what lies beyond the symptom, what lies beyond the body's effect, what is behind the evidence?
I added another question to his questions: why is your brain increasing cholesterol and blood pressure?
My client prioritized leadership highly.
He was focused on discovering, developing, cultivating, and optimizing leadership skills.
I won’t extend the story or the investigative journey, as it has many branches, much more than I can cover in a post.
What I observed very early was that his way of leading was based on his position in the organization and not on intrinsic influence, on being an authentic leader.
What he constantly recorded was a persistent dissatisfaction that people did not follow his strategy, dragged their feet, did not think in the medium and long term, delayed projects, etc.
For this, he made sustained efforts to embody the ideal leader, an image constructed in his mind after other leading figures.
Human genetics comes to format the "inner leader" in 3 loci in the DNA molecule:
Codon 7: the one who LISTENS, is capable of putting aside opinions, egos, judgments, beliefs, listening to the needs of those around.
He doesn’t step forward, he is "the power behind the throne."
Codon 21: the one who is "shaped," geometrized by Life, to assume more RESPONSIBILITY (in his values) than others.
He naturally becomes subordinate, a follower.
He makes authority become submissive and submission authoritative, ending control, hierarchy, and anarchy.
Codon 31: the one who is the VOICE of the group, has no conscious call towards leadership.
He has no attachment or identification with position, function, or label.
He does not desire to speak, but when he does, he uses the right words to free others from the limitations of a lower mind.
He understands like no one else the patterns, trends, languages, structures, human needs.
Many today play the "mask" of 31, talk too much, too elaborately, too importantly, in inappropriate contexts, trying to attract attention, posing as know-it-alls, without realizing they are victims of their own mental constructs.
Beyond genetics, I sought a suggestive image to illustrate what I wanted to emphasize as additional input.
I attached it above; it is easy to see how:
leadership = followership
The measure of leadership is dictated by the measure of followership.
Neither leadership can exist without followership nor followership without leadership.
A leader without a team = just an ordinary individual
A team without a leader = just a group without a target, direction, or common goal
My client produces cholesterol, increasing pressure on himself, when he strives desperately to lead people, to be competent, to have a "good" attitude, to have vision at any cost, to have communication, to respect commitments, to be supportive, to initiate, to be like X or Y character.
He also "runs," rejects, and refuses the follower role with tension, not recognizing himself in it.
After sustained work together, he relaxed when he drew the following conclusion.
If I want internal pressure not to increase, it would help to:
-know who I am
-recognize and cultivate my genetic settings
-manage the energy of the team (not the people) and the external pressure (which is often self-imposed)
-honor myself as a follower
-recognize myself in the follower role in other areas of life where the stakes are not very high: the relationship with his wife (she having a higher priority in the family sphere).
In other words, to paraphrase what he said: I do not use position, function, job description verbatim, learned knowledge, and inefficient skills copied from another leader, but if I want to keep pressure and tension within physiological limits, it would involve:
-being my own initiator, constantly initiating myself on my path
-having good personal energy management
-having a balanced management of the team’s energy
-recognizing the measure and place where I am also a follower and how I contribute to leadership in another dynamic.
“Those who cannot be good followers cannot be good leaders,” said Aristotle.
NASA announced a few years ago that it wanted to recruit new trainee astronauts, people with strong followership skills.
I believe in the end, there are no leaders and no followers per se. We are all both. And we all have to learn and perfect skills, attitudes, and behaviors from both directions.
To look beyond biochemical parameters does not mean the absence of medication, but rather we use it until we have our EYES sufficiently "open" to grasp the bigger picture, in which everyone has their own WORD to say.
To adopt integrative medicine simply means, not simplistically, to combine the measure of personal leadership with that of followership, to reach yourself, to see what you have not seen, to be willing to embrace discomfort, to recognize how you were perceptually mistaken and how everything around you "moved" in your favor, only it took on less "pleasant" traits for the five common senses.
To embody holistic health means to structure Wholeness through the peace of opposites.
PS.: Do all hypertension cases relate to these two aspects? Certainly not.
Do all hypertension cases relate to something in personal life that increases the perception of pressure? Most likely, yes.
It remains for each to investigate how this happens in their case, to balance it with someone skilled and competent in working on mind-body synergy. For an already installed pathology, understanding and awareness are not enough; it requires reformatting perception and thinking patterns, and this takes time, qualified assistance, discernment, patience, and strategy.
